Bill Maris (past includes versatility in past founded web hosting company Burlee.com) and Rich Miner (helped develop Android, a mobile platform and ecosystem, was in past VP at Orange) are the Managing Partners of Google Ventures. Google Inc. named its venture capital fund as ‘Google Ventures’ on 31st March 2009 and has started with US$ 100 million. Google Ventures is ready to invest in startup companies across the technology spectrum in slew of fields health, IT, software, bio-tech, and all that Google comes across to make a big thing happen for the world and web. Google ventures has begin with joining hands with Intel and google.org‘s investment in clean energy and global health. Google at this initial stage is ready to invest upto tens of millions of dollars, but investment will depend on the stage of the opportunity and the company’s need for capital. Apart from this Google Ventures has stepped into co-investing in opportunities with other venture firms.
