Newspass Google New Service for Micro-Payment

Google Newspass will target global newspaper industry and will provide news organizations with micro-payments for direct links their properties in Google News. Also, this news service provide by Google will adapt to any payment option chosen by the owners of the sites which may be any subscription model or micro-payments options.

Google has found a new option to replace the existing paid content options. Newspass will link to paid newspaper content directly from search results.

According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Google is has started contacting publishers in Italy to test a micro-payment system for newspapers, called Newspass and the service is expected to be avilable to publishers in next year 2011. Earlier in December 2009 Google made changes to handle paid content in order to access content from publication and avoid Google cloaking. Users who were able to access content with "first click free" now have a paywalls behind with a single click. In order to compete with Facebook Credits and virtual currency Google will integrate Newspass with Google Checkout providing just a single login to user, one-click entry point for premium content access. The aim is to capture the newspaper and magazine companies using Facebook to promote content online using Facebook official page and Facebook integration.

Newspass Google Workout Process: Both paid and unpaid results will be available to users searching for content in Google News search.  The paid result will provide user with content through paid results for which user will need to pay a fee through Google Checkout. The unpaid option will not need any payment at the same user won't be able to see the content.

Henrique de Castro, a Google vice president, said in a translated statement, "Google wants to be partners, not competitors, with the Newspaper industry."
