Google Audio Indexing GAUDI

With digitalization and emergence of new technologies dynamic websites have become popular. Video is another great promotional tool on the web and one of the most appreciated multimedia gifts. Relating video to comprehensive web search we find indexing these tools (video) and searching video is still not an easy task. Coming to media indexing I have read an excellent article about online video media indexing on ReadWriteWeb.

Many third party websites today offers video search solution; just enter tags and keywords for the video you are looking in search box and these websites return related results using speech recognition technology. Speech is converted to text and natural processing language is further used to simply the process of speech recognition. This technology is used to find videos on the Google (search based on the words spoken in the video).

Google Audio Indexing, GAUDI is full fledged Google Lab video indexing product, it is a good start with focus on political videos and very soon this will expand its horizon for all sorts of videos from different industry verticals. This functionality was earlier available in an iGoogle gadget but now Google is indexing all videos from You Tube. GAUDI is used to find words spoken in speech and also to find videos related to that. User can jump to locations in the videos where these words have been spoken. This will help organize information available globally and in more interactive way on a common platform. Google Elections Video Search gadget is different from GAUDI as the former is confined to US election. The Google audio indexing search result will be based on content, meta and also other ranking factors as for text based search.

The designed Google video indexing interface needs improvement in various areas. Currently limited to political videos on You Tube; needs to include videos from different industries. No API available presently, functions like video sorting is still to be added. There are pitfalls but researchers have been able to recognize lots of words and I am sure this going to be a great success in the near future. GAUDI, speech recognition Google gadget is available at Google Labs. When a user searches for a particular keyword then user is taken to video recording particular sequence area where this word is spoken and used. Search needs to be more refined by shifting from junk search to more refined search. The logic behind is same to add audio or video to the database as Google does for text based search and help user find for spoken words in audio or video clipping, recording. GAUDI beta is presently indexing only vLog from You Tube. By entering keyword in the search box you can move to videos which are shown in the result or you can also move to particular location where this keyword has been used in the video.

With deployment of Google audio indexing service you can search for your spoken words within a video just like conventional search on Google that lets us do keywords search based on audio recordings.
